Sunflowers Ipad Art

'Two Smiling Faces' created on my Ipad with Brushes app
What did I learn today? That there is a brush that paints little dots. It was perfect for the centers of my sunflowers. I varied the size, spacing and colors of the dots to make it more interesting. I love replaying the painting in the gallery. It allows me to see how I got from the blank canvas to the finished painting. I wish there was a way to show that here. I need to look into that!

Mum Ipad Painting

'A Single Mum' ipad painting with Brushes
I painted this one from life. I had a vase of white mums for my pastel class. The lesson was on painting white. I thought it would be fun to do a quick ipad painting to get warmed up for class. For this one I played around with changing the opacity of the paint.

Blue Skies over the Marsh Ipad Painting

'Blue Skies over the Marsh' Ipad painting with Brushes
I am discovering new brushes to use to get the different effects I am after. There is a brush that made it easy to create the grasses in the foreground for example. With each painting I am learning more. I am also excited about the possibilities for using the ipad to do quick studies for my pastel paintings. And what about using it for plein air when you don't want to carry supplies. I could see working up a plein air study and coming back to the studio and using it to inspite a pastel painting.

Digital Painting #2 Ipad

'Morning Marsh' painted on Ipad with Brushes app
I read a tutorial on the Brushes app and it helped. I discovered how to make my paint transparent and opaque and I also discovered how to change the type of brushstrokes. This time I toned the canvas a medium value gray close to Wallis Belgian Mist paper.
